WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO HEALTH AND FITNESS?
My name is Jon Call, most know me as Jujimufu. When I was 13 years old I had broken up with my group of childhood friends. I was a year younger than the other boys, so they went to Highschool and I was still in Middleschool and they didn't want to be around me anymore. I was hurt badly but I forgive them now, we were all just children after all.
Since my self esteem was rock bottomed I was open to making new friends outside my former circle. I made friends with a classmate who was a black belt in Taekwondo, a kicking martial art. He invited me to try a class and I was hooked. It did a lot for boosting my self esteem and made me feel better. Soon after, he and I discovered martial arts tricking online when it was new (acrobatic kicking, twists, and kicks combined into an aesthetic presentation). When I saw those videos online my head exploded. Seeing those videos was one of the most pivotal moments of my life. I quit Taekwondo and began teaching myself tricking in my backyard and any empty field I could find. I just ran out and tried things and failed, then studied videos closer and closer of others doing what I wanted to learn. I began to get to know a lot of people online who were also tricking enthusiast. I ended up making friends with Antoine Vaillant online (now IFBB pro, but at the time didn't even bodybuild) Antoine was one of the tricking enthusiasts I befriended online. We were kids and both seemed to have a liking for lifting weights so we pushed each other to get bigger and stronger too! He went full bodybuilding mode but I stuck to tricking and strength training. Years later I became dissatisfied that I didn't "look the part" for all the training I did. I trained hours everyday, was strong as hell and super functional and acrobatic but looked like a normal person. So I adopted bodybuilding methodology to my training and grew like a weed with my great strength foundation and knowledge of nutrition. I then found myself in an interesting position: I wasn't the best trickster or bodybuilder or strength athlete I could be, and couldn't find a home in any culture exclusively, I felt out of place once again in my life, so I invented my own thing I call Acrobolix (Acrobatic + Anabolic) the combined aesthetics of extreme movement and extreme strength/muscularity. When you have your own "thing" to pioneer, it's hard not to be inspired daily to pursue it and share it.
WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE VITAMUSCLE PRODUCTS?
Glycopump is my favorite. It has a modern carbohydrate and amino acid blend, tastes super awesome, and one container goes a long way. I use it everytime I train now. I also like the Hydropump Protein. Gram per gram it's got the highest protein content of any protein product I've used or heard of. It's super pure. Since it's lactose and fat free, it gives me the best control over how to use the product in my diet. I like to combine 1/2 serving of HydroPump with 1 serving of Glycopump when I train. I drink more of this combination if the training session becomes more and more long winded.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE SOMEONE BEGINNING HIS/HER FITNESS JOURNEY?
Make it your own thing. Whatever training "guild" you gravitate towards, be sure to take what you can from it and discard the parts that aren't going to work for your goals or lifestyle. This approach is precisely how Bruce Lee invented Jeet Kune Do: he took what he liked from the traditional Martial Arts and discarded what he didn't like. This, of course, upset lots of traditionist at the time, but his martial art Jeet Kune Do has stood the test of time and he's a legend because of it. You will upset a lot of traditionist making fitness your own thing, but there is no better way to make the journey than to make it your own! Have fun with it!
